Live the Dream

Open doors you have only imagined.

As a PADI Professional, you do things others only dream of.

Whether you want to work at IDC Scuba, at a resort, or on a live aboard dive boat, the adventure of a lifetime is yours for the taking.

Imagine a job where you actually look forward to heading off to work in the morning. Lead a life others fantasize about. Sailing into incredible sunsets could be the rule, not the exception, especially if you work in a tropical dive destination. The commute to work could be as easy as a ten-minute boat ride. Work now becomes an adventure in itself. While experiencing new cultures and lifestyles, you'll be surrounded by people who are always happy. When you take people diving all day - everyone's happy. It's not all fun and games in paradise, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

If you set your sights close to home and aspire to work as a diving professional, you teach people how to dive and guide trips to exotic dive destinations. There's a sense of pride sharing something you are passionate about. You help others enrich their own lives by experiencing the adventure of diving.

Divemaster

For those of you looking to join the leaders of the pack, look no further. The PADI Divemaster program is your first step leadership level in the PADI System of diver education. This rating denotes you as a person who: has a high level of personal diving skill, has instructor level knowledge of diving theory, has had significant training in how to assist an instructor during training activities and is able to assume appropriate responsibilities that benefit the welfare of other divers.

In other words, you’re the cream of the crop and we want you! As you may know, many PADI Divemasters go on to become PADI Instructors. So, the training and experience you gain through the PADI Divemaster program helps shape your abilities and attitude toward becoming a professional level diving educator. As a PADI Divemaster, you'll be qualified to organize, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities, both land and boat based and assist PADI Instructors in conducting PADI Diver programs.

To qualify for PADI Divemaster training, you'll need to:

  •  Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent).
  •  Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent).
  •  Have logged a minimum of 20 open water dives prior to entry into PADI Divemaster training, and completed and logged a minimum of 60 open water dives with experience in night, deep and navigation prior to certification as a PADI Divemaster.
  •  Be at least 18 years old.
  •  Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical exam form signed by a physician.

You’ll complete three phases in the PADI Divemaster program:

1. Watermanship and skills assessment

  • Watermanship and stamina
  • General diving skills

  • Diving physics
  • Diving physiology
  • Diving skills and environment
  • Supervising students in training
  • Dive management and control
  • Dive planning
  • Emergency assistance plan for Diving emergencies in the local area
  • Mapping a local open water site

3. Practical Application

This involves training activities using various structured training sessions, simulated scenarios and internship sessions with actual PADI programs. These training sessions enable you to gain practical experience as an instructional assistant and a supervisor of open water diving activities, both as a coordinator and as an underwater guide.

As a PADI Divemaster you'll be able to:

  •  Act as certified instructional assistant to PADI Instructors.
  •  Supervise participants in PADI experience programs for uncertified divers.
  •  Generally supervise both training and no training related diving activities by planning, organizing and directing dives.
  •  Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
  •  Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program for certified divers.

Upon successfully completing the PADI Divemaster program, you’ll receive a certification card and wall certificate denoting this rating. You’ll also become a member of PADI and receive benefits, including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance (which may be required to conduct some activities).

Instructor

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the basis of the PADI Instructor training and certification process. It is a mandatory step prior to attending the Instructor Examination (IE). The program caters for both sides of the spectrum...for individuals with limited experience, the program is designed to provide a formalized direction on ’how to teach’ and become an Instructor. The candidate goes back into the field, gaining practice and experience under their Instructor’s supervision, and then attend an IE at a later stage, when they are ready. For the experienced Divemaster or Assistant Instructor, who is proficient in his/her academic, water skills, rescue, leadership and teaching abilities, the program formalizes their role and function as an Instructor, ensuring that they meet the high standards set by PADI.

PADI, the world’s largest diver training and certification agency, offers the finest and most comprehensive instructor training programs available. The PADI IDC provides a professional learning experience in which you will learn how to teach diving utilizing the most successful program in existence…….. The PADI System of Diver Education. Not only will you learn how to teach in the classroom, pool and open water, you will also learn how to effectively and efficiently use PADI’s teaching aids and instructional support materials. When you complete the PADI IDC with IDC Scuba, you will be trained and prepared to attend a PADI Instructor Examination, the final step towards your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification. You will also be equipped with an excellent understanding of the diving industry as a whole, scuba course promotional techniques, progressive instructional methods and state of the art diving information.

The IDC provides a stress-free learning environment, as the formal examination is reserved for the IE alone. Without the pressure of formal examination, you can learn, practice and develop your skills and abilities to their maximum potential. Your IDC will involve a number of different modules which are extensively supported by audio visual programs, modern teaching materials and education techniques.

When you have earned the diving industry’s most respected and demanded teaching credential, the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating, you will be respected as one of diving’s finest; and you will be able to take advantage of many exciting opportunities around the world. Prepare to attend this PADI IDC and become part of the exciting world of Scuba Diving Professionals!

Topics covered in the course include:

How to teach the PADI system of diver education with special emphasis on the Modular Scuba Course (Open Water Diver Course).

Teaching techniques for the classroom, confined water (pool) and open water environments.

After successful completing a PADI Instructor Examination (IE), OWSIs take responsibility for introducing people to scuba diving through various PADI programs and courses.
