Back from
Flinders Island
19 February 2008
What a trip!!! The guys who went
on this trip had an awesome time. We were blessed with some of the best
weather I have seen on any trip. Of course the boys all did well in the
water and by the end of the trip we had caught 47 crays between us. Many
happy faces and many beers were downed on the Sunday night after a
successful few days of cray diving. The next trip to Flinders Island has
already been scheduled for November this year.

Club BBQ a fun night

13 January 2008
The club BBQ on the weekend had a
great turn out. Rubens cooked over 60 sausages and plenty of alcohol was
consumed. Quite a few of the members present took advantage of the good
diving condition and did dives on Saturday and Sunday. All, in all a good
time was had by all and we are now looking forward to the IDC Scuba Awards
Night on the 2nd of February.
Flinders Island trip not far away

12 January 2008
Club member Michael Juttner is
pictured here with on of our lovely Victorian Southern Rock Lobsters.
However in the middle of February, a group of us are off to Flinders island
again for a weekend of crayfish catching. There is still one spot left if
you are interested. Just contact Rubens at the shop for more details.
Digital Photo
Course
1 December 2007
On the weekend we ran a
PADI U/W Digital Photography Course and on one of the dives, student
Ashleigh Grant snapped a great shot this huge bull-ray which was feeding on
what looked to be a fairly large stargazer. We spent about 10 minutes
watching this graceful giant
with a 2 metre plus wing span, chase the stargazer around. Isn't it good to
have a camera on hand just for these occasions.

Aquamissions at
Oasis
21 November 2007
Last night IDC Scuba
started a PADI Seal Team program at the Dandenong Oasis Swim Centre. The
program which runs for 5 weeks for 1 hour on a Monday night will finish just
before Christmas. There were 6 very excited kids who took their first
breaths underwater and once they got going, it was very hard to stop them!
We will have more on this course as it goes into week two when the kids get
into some diving skills.
Back from Flinders Island
13 November 2007
The weather gods were
smiling on the group that visited Flinders Island last weekend. Sunny
skies, calm seas and heaps of crayfish was what we got and weren't the
boys happy! With such good weather we were able to get 8 dives in and all
the dives yielded critters. But it wasn't all about crayfish, the guys
actually got to experience some great diving with magnificent formations
and clear temperate waters. For those interested we have booked
another trip departing Friday 15th February 2008, returning Monday 18th
February 2008. There are only 4 spots left for this trip as 3 spots have
already been booked, so get in fast!

Open water divers
have an explosive time!!!
14 October 2007
It's not often that they
close down Portsea Pier to divers. However, with the discovery of world war
2 unexploded ordinance late last Sunday afternoon, the pier was closed to
all public until the Navy and Police spent the week safely removing the
devices from the area.
Luckily for our Open Water students,
they were all able to finish the course off on time and all receive their
certificates of bravery for learning under fire!!!
Congratulations to James
Demidowski, Scott Orchard, Patrick O'Callaghan, Luke Smith and Hayley
Jenkins for completing their Open Water course and well done to their
Captain Instructor Steve Gymer for completing their mission!
